Applications

RE: LiYF4 crystal is used for various laser applications, such as medical laser systems, spectroscopy and scientific research. It is also used as a gain medium for tunable solid-state lasers and as a frequency doubling crystal in high-power laser systems.

Features

RE: LiYF4 crystal has several key characteristics and advantages that make it attractive for laser applications. This includes:
-Low absorption loss in the ultraviolet spectral region
-Low nonlinear refractive index and thermal optical constant
-The temperature coefficient of Negative refraction index can offset the thermal distortion, so as to output high beam quality laser
-Compared with YAG crystal, the Slope efficiency is higher and the threshold is lower
-Better thermal stability than YAG crystals, lower phonon energy, and longer fluorescence lifetime
-High laser damage threshold is beneficial for high-power laser operation
-Large emission cross-section
-Wide tunable range, capable of doping different rare earth ions, which can broaden the tunable range of lasers
-Low quantum defects mean that a high percentage of pump energy is converted into laser radiation
