Gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) is a special type of magneto optical thin film substrate. GGG single crystal substrates with different tangential directions can be optimally matched with the lattice of YIG and large thin film magneto-optical materials, thereby ensuring the successful epitaxial growth of YIG and large thin films. GGG crystal is also the best substrate material for making microwave isolators.
